ISARA REMO PEOPLE’S STANDPOINT;

A Resolution Reached by the People of Isara Remo at the Town Hall Meeting Held on Sunday, 11th January 2026 on the Issue of the Quarry Companies at Isara Remo.

A decisive community meeting was held in Isara to confront the ongoing injustice surrounding quarry activities in our town and the devastating consequences they have imposed on our people.

This meeting marked a turning point in Isara’s resolve to no longer remain silent in the face of exploitation, environmental destruction, and systemic neglect.

As a concrete step toward organised resistance and accountability, the Isara Socioeconomic Vanguard was formally established, with Alhaji Taiwo Bakare appointed as Chairman.

This committee is mandated to confront quarry operations in Isara head-on, demand transparency, enforce accountability, and ensure that the community's interests are no longer ignored.

It was unanimously acknowledged that while quarry activities generate significant wealth, Isara as a community has been deliberately excluded from the benefits. Only a handful of individuals, families, and traditional authorities have gained. At the same time, the majority of residents suffer the consequences of land degradation, polluted air, structural damage to homes, and rising health concerns.

The environmental and health costs of these activities can no longer be tolerated. Farmlands are being destroyed, water sources are threatened, and the safety and well-being of residents are placed at constant risk.

This level of environmental violence against a host community is unacceptable and must be resisted.

The meeting further revealed that past efforts to hold the Chinese quarry operators accountable were undermined by the actions of certain individuals who placed personal interests above communal welfare. Such acts of sabotage have delayed justice, but they will no longer be allowed to derail the collective will of Isara.

This movement has now entered a critical phase. Formal petitions and letters have been submitted to the Governor and the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, signalling that Isara is prepared to pursue this struggle through every lawful, constitutional, and legal avenue available.

Silence is no longer an option, and inaction will no longer be excused.

It was emphatically stated that all mining and quarrying activities in Isara must comply fully with existing laws and regulations. Environmental impact assessments, community development agreements, and safety standards must be enforced without compromise.

Any operation that violates these laws stands against the people of Isara.

Land-owning families were strongly called upon to rise above short-term stipends and stand with the community.

The exploitation of ancestral lands for minimal compensation is a betrayal of future generations. Unity with the wider community promises greater, lasting benefits than any temporary payments being received.

This struggle is not personal, political, or selective. It is a collective fight for dignity, justice, and the survival of Isara. Every indigene, resident, youth, elder, and stakeholder has a role to play. Neutrality at this moment only strengthens exploitation.

In closing, the people of Isara reaffirmed their determination to fight this struggle to the end. This is a fight to finish. This is a fight to win. We are ready to reclaim what rightfully belongs to us our land, our health, our environment, and our future. United action and unwavering cooperation are urgently needed to secure justice for Isara.

This historic meeting was held at Afotamodi Town Hall, Oke-Bola Isara Remo.
